This 1970 SELMER Mark VI tenor saxophone is a wonderful example that relacquered SELMER saxophones do not have to fall short—quite the contrary, as this Mark VI is a genuinely stellar instrument! It seems that this SELMER Mark VI was relacquered many years ago, as the finish has since beautifully darkened, giving this sax a particularly lovely touch. Therefore, we also decided to recut the original engraving, adding an exquisite extra detail to its overall visual appeal.
And tonally? It truly is a great horn: a medium-bright tone color with a well-balanced overtone structure and a healthy dose of power when pushed. Of course, one doesn’t know how the saxophone sounded before it was relacquered, but I’d say it couldn’t have been better, because it is a really good Mark VI!
Feel free to contact us for a playtesting appointment, where you can compare this Mark VI with many other SELMER vintage saxophones (many of which are not presented here on the homepage).
Alternatively, order it via our online shop and test it for 14 days at home!
