1969 Tenor Saxophone SELMER Paris Mark VI, US-Version, no lacquer, Player’s Horn, 169xxx
Now in the Advent special! Don’t miss a surprise—follow our Advent Calendar daily.
This SELMER Mark VI tenor saxophone was built in 1969 in Mantes la Ville (F) and then engraved and varnished in Elkhart (USA). None of the original varnish remains, body, bow/bell and S-bow have been stripped of varnish, only the keywork is still varnished. Judging by the color, the remaining varnish was probably renewed at an earlier date.
The saxophone has been through a lot, and parts have been re-soldered here and there. We have just replaced the pads and now the Mark VI is really good to play again and it starts off very well. Beautiful, powerful radiance, a good core and a lot of warmth in the tone with a soft attack – all this makes this 169xxx Mark VI a really versatile horn: jazz, pop, rock or should it perhaps be used as an assertive solo tenor sax in the big band? It can definitely do all that and, depending on the player, certainly much more…
