1968 Tenor Saxophone SELMER Paris Mark VI, silver-plated, 157xxx
Now in the Advent special! Don’t miss a surprise—follow our Advent Calendar daily.
Silver-plated SELMER saxophones are not only radiant in their appearance, but the silver finish also changes the overtone structure of the sound character compared to lacquered SELMER saxophones. In addition to their appearance, this may be one reason why silver-plated SELMER saxophones are so popular.
When I play this 1968 SELMER Mark VI tenor saxophone, I can only agree with the above theory. The round, Mark VI-typical core is joined by beautiful overtones and lends its sound character a certain brilliance. Moreover due to the high dynamics that a SELMER Mark VI offers, this beautiful tenor saxophone gives you a lot of possibilities to shape the notes.
Visually, this 157xxx SELMER Mark VI is still in good shape, considering that it is over 56 years old! The silver plating is almost completely intact, of course there are traces of use, but apparently this SELMER saxophone has not suffered any major drops or damage. Technically it is flawless, as it was recently overhauled.
This is just one tidbit from our rich SAXOPHONIC – Legendary Saxophones buffet, because we have many more SELMER vintage saxophones from the “Balanced Action”, “Super (Balanced) Action” and Mark VI series and now even some Mark 7s in our inventory that are not presented here on our homepage.
Feel free to arrange an appointment with us if you want to test this beautiful tenor saxophone or compare it with many other from our huge collection. But you might also order it from our webs shop if you prefer to play it in private.
